- The Doctors in the Paddock project involves a number of field days in the Lithgow district in which farmers and community members are invited to a field day where they can access free working dog checks, free Q fever testing and vaccination, and be given information about mental health services in the area. The field days are used as an opportunity to gather data about rural communities and their perceptions of mental health care. Those who attend the field days are asked to fill out anonymous questionnaires to identify what they found useful about the field day, what they know of mental health services in their area and how these could be improved to better serve the community. The data collected will be analysed and used to determine whether these field days are appropriate and effective in terms of mental health care delivery, and whether they may be rolled out in other rural areas.
